Soak over night black eye beans in hot water.
Add to soaked beans water, salt, black Pepper and turmeric powder.
In the hot oil add first dry chilli (optional) cloves, cinnamon sticks, mustard and cumin seeds, curry leaves then add onions.
Saute onions till transparent, add tomato paste, tomatoes, sugar and garam masala, cook till oil starts to separate
Add onion mixture to uncooked beans.
Add some more water till it covers the beans. Add salt to taste. Cook for 5 minutes in pressure cooker.
Add garlic, coriander leaves and chopped green chili. Heat it up before serving
Serve with basmati rice
